Cops nab man after illegal gun seized in St Thomas
A man is now in police custody after cops seized a 9mm pistol during a crime prevention operation in Shanty Town, Lower York, Seaforth, St Thomas.
Reports are that lawmen received information that a man was seen walking around the community with a firearm. Acting swiftly on the tip, a team carried out targeted operations in the area.
During the search, officers reportedly found a chrome and black SSCY CPX 2 9mm pistol with no visible serial number. The gun, fitted with a magazine, was discovered in an open area next to a dwelling house. No ammunition was recovered at the scene.
Further investigations led the police to conduct additional enquiries in Seaforth, where a suspect was later picked up. He remains in custody as detectives continue their probe.
The police say the seizure highlights their ongoing efforts to clamp down on illegal guns and are again urging residents to share information that can help keep communities safe.
