The successor to the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall (MKQ) show is slated to be launched in January 2019. Executive producer Mark Kenny said that details of the new show will soon be released.

"MKQ, in its 11-year history, unearthed 22 winners. However, many more have benefited from the national and worldwide exposure afforded by the television show. Some contestants have also benefited from great relationships with brands as a result of being on the show. Therefore, we will not leave a void. In entertainment, there must be changes and improvements to keep the energy alive. As such, we are crafting a platform for talent with great entertainment value," he said.

The producers last week announced that there would be no more MKQ. However, Magnum Tonic Wine, the main sponsor, has said that a platform to showcase and propel the best talents in dancehall is in the pipeline for next year.

"Dancehall is more than the popular music, it is a way of life, that impacts the world, and Jamaica is the hub. We continue to unearth raw talent and give dancehall fans a show they can be excited about. We hope that persons will be inspired to excel in dancehall and continue to build Brand Jamaica through its popular culture," Telecia Lindo, Magnum's marketing manager, said.
