Veterans entertainers Echo Minott and Lord Sassafras are in the line-up for this year's staging of Dance of The Year, which is slated to take place at House of Dancehall in Kingston tomorrow.

"It's December and what better gift to give fans of our music than some professional display of art from not just any artistes, but legends," Michael Dawson, the organiser of the event, said.

Echo Minott, who recorded his first album, Youthman Vibration, at age 17, and Lord Sassafrass, who was part of the Black Scorpio Sound System, dominated during the '80s.

"It might sound like I am exaggerating, but think of what these people did for our music and we are blessed to be able to enjoy them in our lifetime," Dawson said.

The event was headlined by King Yellowman last year.

"Yellowman is not the easiest act to book for any show. We managed to get him and he gave fans what they were salivating for. To top what we did last year, we had to get five legends. To elevate the show, we had to get three legendary sounds and two legendary artistes because we can't afford to deliver any less," Dawson said.

In addition to the performances, the show is expected to feature a sound clash between iconic sound systems Papa Jaro, Scorpio, and King Jammys.

"These sound systems have had rivalry for years and are known to posses some of reggae music's most priceless dubs. It's time to settle the score, and what better place than in the capital where it all started."

The event will also feature icons like Charlie Chaplin, General Trees, and the animated Admiral Bailey. Patrons are encouraged to wear dancehall fashion of the '90s and '80s.
