Mr Lexx to roll back the years at Magnum Xplosion
Veteran dancehall DJ Mr Lexx is one of the pioneers of the '90s dancehall sound.
A true maverick in his own right, Mr Lexx, whose given name is Christopher George Palmer, has remained a staple on the local and international dancehall scene.
The multiaward-winning artiste is among an impressive roster of local acts confirmed for Magnum Tonic Wine's Magnum Xplosion Stage Show series grand finale, the curtain closer to an almost year-long campaign for the brand. Other confirmed acts include Ding Dong, Aidonia, Govana, Spice, and Sasco.
Mr Lexx, who promises to deliver a performance nothing short of epic, said that true dancehall fans would be served a tasteful reminder of the early 2000s but should expect some new work as well.
"Music is constant, so while I plan to please the fans with the hits they know and love, I will be bringing some new energy as well. The work never stops, and every performance will reflect that. Stage show a go get shell," said Mr Lexx.
Lexx, who believes having years of experience works in his favour, said: "Dancehall is full of new talent. Every day, there is another artiste or someone somewhere making music, but experience is a plus for me. I've been doing this for years and doing it all over the world, so I'm no stranger to this, and everybody knows that."
Known for his theatrical performance style and tendency to engage female fans, Mr Lexx said that he's all about pleasing the women.
Popular songs Cook, Let Those Monkeys Out, and Taxi Fare featuring Mr Vegas, initially seemed to have rubbed some women the wrong way.
"The ladies know it's all good, and I'm definitely performing for my female fans. Music is art and art mimics life. It's the reality that some women can't cook. My music is reality, but it's all for fun, not to offend anyone," he added.
Magnum Xplosion is slated for Friday, December 14, at the Melbourne Cricket Club in Kingston.
