Tosh Awards venue changed
Organisers of the Peter Tosh Gala Awards and reception have announced a change of venue for the event.
A release sent to the media on the weekend stated the awards, which were scheduled to be held at the Pulse Centre, 38A Trafalgar Road on Thursday, October 18, will now be moved to Eden Gardens on Lady Musgrave Road.
No reason was given for the change in the venue. The event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
The awards gala is the first of four scheduled events commemorating the singer's life and work.
On Friday, October 19, the Peter Tosh Symposium will be held at The University of the West Indies, Mona campus. A concert at Pulse headquarters is scheduled for October 20. To culminate the Tosh activities, there will be a pilgrimage to the Tosh mausoleum in his hometown of Belmont, Westmoreland, on Sunday, October 21.
Tosh, given name Winston Hubert McIntosh, was born in 1944. He moved to Trench Town as a teenager, where he learned to play guitar, essentially starting a life of music.
Tosh would go on to become a core member of The Wailers, before venturing into a productive solo career.
He was murdered during a home invasion in 1987.
