Cops take three illegal weapons off the streets
Three guns and more than 30 rounds of ammunition were seized by lawmen during operations in three parishes on Tuesday.
Reports from the Portmore police are that about 5 a.m., a targeted raid was carried out at a dwelling house on Wallen Avenue, Braeton, St Catherine. One 9mm Taurus pistol with 10 9mm cartridges was found. Barrington Davis, 34, otherwise called 'Jah Sent', a musician, was subsequently arrested and charged with unauthorised possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition. The Clarendon police then recovered one .38 revolver, containing six .38 cartridges. The weapon was found wrapped in a white merino, in a black bag on an open lot on Windsor Avenue in May Pen. No arrest was made in relation to the seizure.
Moments later, a 9mm pistol with a magazine containing 16 cartridges and another magazine with five cartridges were found inside a house in Black Heath Road, Georges Plain in Westmoreland by the Frome police. One man was taken into custody pending further investigations.
