Central Jamaica rules rural schoolgirl netball
Central Jamaica teams dominated yesterday's quarterfinals of the ISSA Rural Schoolgirls Senior and Junior netball competitions at Manchester High school, as Holmwood Technical, Denbigh High, Glenmuir High and hosts Manchester High booked semifinals berths.
In senior action, many-time champions Holmwood produced the biggest win after a convincing 66-11 margin over Mile Gully. It was all Holmwood, after a 10-5 first quarter lead, as they went into the half-time break leading 36-7, before extending their lead 52-8 at the end of the third quarter for their big win.
It was also smooth for Manchester High, Glenmuir and Denbigh. Manchester had a 64-20 win over Bishop Gibson High, Glenmuir routed Herbert Morrison Technical 56-6 and Denbigh stopped Green Pond High 60-8.
The junior matches were also one-sided, with the winners securing big wins over their opponents.
Holmwood defeated May Day 57-12, Manchester won 42-7 over Bishop Gibson, Glenmuir cooled Herbert Morrison 31-12 and Denbigh got by Maggoty 44-10.
The semifinals will be played on Tuesday at GC Foster College.
In junior action, Holmwood will go against Denbigh, while Manchester will face Glenmuir. In the senior, it will be Manchester playing Denbigh and Holmwood taking on Glenmuir.
